Q & A with Burn Notice’ actress Gabrielle Anwar

Submitted on July 22, 2009 No Comment

Q: Gabrielle Anwar, the female lead in ‘Burn-Notice’ acted in a prior cinema, which was enjoyed by my children. In this circus movie she enacted a diving girl on horseback who leaped over into a tank full of water from an elevated incline. She became sightless after such a jump. Can you name the movie? Is it available on DVD?

A: The movie you are talking about is ‘Wild-Hearts-Cant-Be-Broken’ released in 1991. It is available on DVD.

Q: My query is regarding a ‘House’ character. The person depicting the character of Dr. Kutner commits suicide in one episode. Towards the end of the episode, we were shown, an ‘In-Memory’ detailing his name, birth date and date of demise. My doubt is this: Was his suicide a fact?

A: The serial considered the death of the story-bound character of Dr. Kutner as factual; they even arranged internet commemorative services. However, Kal Penn, the actor who depicted Dr. Kutner is still alive. He departed from the serial to take a position in the Obama government. Incidentally, his Christian name is Kalpen Modi and uses Kal Penn as his stage name.

Q: Hey, this is Tulsa. Of late, I have read a paperback ‘The Ghost of Flight 401’. The novel deals with the crash-landing of a Lockheed jet L-1011 at Florida-Everglades in the beginning of the seventy’s. I have a faint recollection of a cinema on the incident, could be by William Shatner. Can you name the film?

A: It was a made for television film with the same name. It was released in 1978 and the star cast consisted of Ernest-Borgaine, Gary-Lockwood, Kim-Basinger and Howard-Hesseman. William Shatner was not associated in the making of this film, though he has a reputation of being allied with films involving aircrafts.

Q: Yeah, this one should be good. I recollect a show on a young Japanese and a gigantic robot, in the beginning of the 70’s. My belief is that the name of the young Japanese was Johnny Soko. Am I correct or imagining things?

A: You are on the right track. An altered version of the Japanese series titled ‘Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot’ was telecast in the US in 1969 and continually run for a number of years. Previous episodes can be located at Hulu dot com.

Q: I had a chance to watch a television film with Ralph Waite in the lead, during the latter part of the 70’s. In the film, Waite is a trained educationalist, who left his job following the death of his wife. He sell his home and tours across the United States. The film tells the story of his experiences doing unskilled work which he did during his journey. I have no recollection as to the name of the film, though I must say was among the finest shows and would like love to watch it once more.

A: Almost certainly, you are recalling the television film ‘The Secret Life of John Chapman’, released in 1976 and are based on a faithful narrative of a University professor who went away on a vacation to employ himself as a manual worker. The actual stimulation was the manuscript ‘Blue Collar Journal’ by John Royston Coleman, who reminiscence his experiences. The cast included Waite, Susan Anspach, Pat Hingle and Brad Davis. I have no idea of any future TV shows or any approved VCDs.

Q: Is it possible to watch a made-for television film from the middle of 70’s, the actor being Ed Asner and the actress is the one who enacted Rhoda’s sister in the television serial ‘Rhoda’. The story revolves around a woman, who takes vengeance on her past detractors. Asner is a policeman in the movie. Will you help?

A: I am uninformed of such a film you depicted with Asner and Julie Kavner, who characterized Rhoda’s sister. It could be the film ‘The Girl Most Likely To’, in which Stockard Channing acted as an unattractive woman who emerges as striking after going through a plastic surgery and takes retribution on her past detractors. Asner is a police officer in this movie. Its DVD was released during 005.
